Origin of the Chamber of Commerce

In 2023, the Guangdong Import & Export Chamber of Commerce organized a Cross-Border E-commerce Product Selection Expo in Malaysia and appointed Kim Tan Kian Wee as the Director of the Malaysia Service Center to advance bilateral trade and cross-border e-commerce development.

To facilitate its operations in Malaysia, the Chamber subsequently registered the Malaysia Guangdong Import & Export Chamber of Commerce, enhancing its legitimacy and strengthening its influence in the local market.

Background Overview

Malaysia is an important member of ASEAN and a key partner in China’s Belt and Road Initiative. In recent years, economic and trade cooperation between China and Malaysia has continued to deepen, with bilateral trade volume steadily increasing.

To better support import and export enterprises in Guangdong and assist them in expanding into the Malaysian market, the Guangdong Import & Export Chamber of Commerce decided to establish a service center in Malaysia.

Duties and Objectives

The main responsibilities of the Malaysia Service Center are to provide Guangdong import and export enterprises with market information, policy consultation, business development support, exhibition services, logistics solutions, and overseas warehousing services. The Center aims to help enterprises overcome obstacles in expanding into overseas markets and achieve rapid and sustainable international growth.

The ultimate goal of the Service Center is to promote economic and trade cooperation between Guangdong and Malaysia, advance Guangdong’s foreign trade development, and contribute to the high-quality growth of Guangdong’s economy.
